A Dragoon's Tale

Recently, historians stumbled across a document of considerable importance: a letter and sketch book recounting the famous Waterloo campaign of 1815 by a hitherto obscure participant in this momentous event, Trooper William E. Bloggs of the British 13th Light Dragoon Regiment. It is our great pleasure to make this important find available here.

August 15, 1815

Somewhere outside of Paris

Dear Mum,

Sorry I haven't written for a while. It has been a frantic hundred days since Napoleon Bonaparte escaped from his exile on the Isle of Elba and returned to France. Fortunately, I had my sketch pad and water color set that you gave me for Christmas with me and was able to record those events.

At the news of his return to France the European powers surrounded France with armies. Our regiment was immediately shipped to Belgium. The trip over was pretty rough - I shouldn't have had so much breakfast.
