Over the years, Playmobil has produced toy soldiers from several different periods of history. Some have lent themselves very well to HG Wells Little Wars. We have called them the gunpowder armies and we've grouped our favorites into five somewhat vague historical periods.

The Victorian period of our Gunpowder Armies begins sometime around the 1850s and continues up to the early 1900s. The Crimean War, the American Civil War, the Indian Wars in the American West, the Northwest Mounted Police, the Zulu Wars, the Franco Prussian War, the French Foreign Legion in Africa and Mexico, and the beginning of World War I are just a few of the many conflicts that occurred during this era.
