By the time they had toasted the king of Spain, the Prince of Orange, and so on through assorted princes, grand dukes, dukes, counts, down to the Baron of Potzdorffenstein, things were getting a little rowdy.

Just then in the early hours of the morning on 16 June, the news came that Boney was heading our way. The officers marched off straight away. Unfortunately, their sense of direction was a little off.
